The Netherlands will host international community in The Hague to the Conference on Afghanistan
The Netherlands will host an international conference on Afghanistan on March 31 in The Hague, the Dutch government said Tuesday.
Recently, the US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton proposed a high-level international conference on Afghanistan but venue of the meeting was not stated.
"Under the auspices of the United Nations, a high-level conference on the future of Afghanistan will be held in The Hague on 31 March," a foreign ministry statement said, adding it would likely be chaired by UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon.
Foreign ministers and representatives of international donors involved in security and reconstruction in Afghanistan will be invited.
Secretary Clinton emphasized on the participation of Afghan neighbors, exclusively Pakistan and Iran as the "key regional and strategic" nations.
The statement from the Dutch Foreign Office reveals that the entire NATO nations will take a part in the conference.
